2018 recap and a look forward to 2019

So, in 2017 we went from a stand-alone guild to joining as a local guild under the National Modern Quilt Guild.

In 2018, we set about getting ourselves organized and enjoying more activities as a guild instead of individual members and we had a very productive year.

So what did we do?

We had a guild quilt show at the Sewing and Quilt Expo in Fredericksurg. Stay tuned, these quilts were so pretty and had such good stories with each one that they deserve their own post.

We auctioned off a group made quilt to raise funds for our guild and the Loisann's Hope House.

We brought in pattern designer and teacher, Karie Jewell, and held a one day workshop where we learned (or practiced foundation piecing techniques) and created mini quilts! It was our first hosted workshop and we had a blast. Here are some finished projects.

We've had guild sew-in days once every quarter to work on the charity quilt or our own personal projects and as a part of our regular meetings our members presented blocks for a block of the month and presented on the elements of modern quilting.  We've also had a round robin day where a few of our guild members shared sewing techniques or projects with one another.

Finally, we finished the year with a potluck and small, handmade gift exchange. Our members are such fun and giving people.

As we head into 2019, we have scheduled more guild sew-in days, we have a new workshop planned, another guild round robin day, more charity quilts and shows. We hope to increase the number of members and further share in the fun and joy of quilting so if you would like to join us for a meeting, stop in. The first two can be attended at no cost and we'd love to see you.

Cheers!
Fredericksburg Modern Quilt Guild
