We're a HIT!

Originally posted April 13, 2013 by Shelley Brooks
The Fredericksburg Modern Quilt Guild is a hit! We're over 40 strong in members and our meetings have practically out grown our meeting spaces (already)! We're super lucky to have two great quilt shops offer us the use of their classrooms to meet. Rhonda of Crazy Cousin and Kiki of Quilt and Sew have both graciously offered the use of their spaces to us and we'll continue to appreciate them as long as we fit.

These photos are from our last meeting. As you will see- the talent in our group is amazing. If you're ever feeling in a rut or just can't think of something to do.... By all means, stop in to one of the meetings. You'll leave inspired and in a great mood. We've already begun to mesh together as a group and we're having fun meetings.

Our next event will be on Sunday, April 21st from 1-5 at Crazy Cousin Quilt Shop. We've been choosing different days of the week to allow for as many folks to be a part, as possible. We chose Sunday this time as it was the only way we could get that many hours of use in a large space. We'll do some investigating before our next Sew In and hopefully hold it in a larger venue and different day.

We have a project in which everyone can participate. As we are getting to know each other, it would be nice to learn each others' name. So.... The project is to create a name tag for yourself. You can choose any design or material (left over "what's my name" stickers work just fine.... But aren't as much fun) that you'd like.

There are some great examples HERE.
Speaking of great examples....check out this gorgeous quilt..
And this one....
Who's hiding behind this one?
From a photo ....to an art quilt!
Appliqué spoken here and....
Here...and....
Here.
Pat's asking about this modern log cabin...

More beautiful work....
And look at all of those happy faces! Come join us next time!
